"SOMETHING ABOUT TORONTO" SLATED FOR RELEASE
Interviewer: Tom, what sparked the creation of your latest single, "Something About Toronto"?
Tom Petrone: Ah, "Something About Toronto" holds a special place in my heart. It all started during one of my frequent trips to Toronto for various musical endeavors. One day, as I gazed out of my hotel window, I was struck by the awe-inspiring view of the city. There's an indescribable coolness about Toronto that resonated deep within me. Spontaneously, I captured the breathtaking skyline in a photo and shared it on Instagram, naming it "Something About Toronto." Little did I know, that moment would ignite the creative spark for this song.
Later that day, I found myself in the studio with Dan, my trusted collaborator. I showed him the Instagram post and shared my thoughts on the title. I distinctly remember telling him, "Dan, there's something about Toronto that's incredibly captivating. Let's encapsulate that essence in a song." With that, Dan immersed himself in crafting poignant and evocative lyrics. The process was organic; we didn't have a fixed musical direction, but we allowed the city's vibe to guide us.
As Dan penned the lyrics, I found myself inspired by a modern bossa nova track he had shared earlier. Its rhythm and melody resonated deeply with me. Everything fell into place effortlessly. Before we knew it, "Something About Toronto" had come alive, capturing the essence of the city that sparked its creation. It felt as though the song was destined to be—a seamless blend of inspiration and creativity.
